This phase which spanned a period of three years started with the involvement of Egypt (a vassal of Turkey) that was undergoing vast reforms under Mehmet Ali. He and his sons captured Navarino, an important port of Greece and a strategic position that was never held by Turkey in the past. The Great powers could not withstand Mehmet's control both Egypt and Greece. So in 1827, they together sent a fleet to mediate a peace deal. But however, it turned to a battle field and the Europeans fired at Egyptian ships that sank into the sea.
The third phase of the war was characterized by foreign interference, and span from 1825 until 1827. It began with an unlikely-seeming intervention by the armed forces of Egypt. Mehmet Ali had ambitions and later tried to overthrow the sultan, but at this time he was able to make a deal with the central regime. In return for a promise that he and his sons could rule whatever they would captured. Therefore, Mehmet Ali's modernized navy and army invaded Greece in 1825, where they captured the port of Navarino. This gave them the kind of base never held by the Turkish army, and the Egyptians might well have defeated the Greek resistance. Thus the sultan lost his claim over Morea and was not in a position to withstand the invasion of the Great Powers.
Phases IV of the Greek revolution 1828-1830
The final phase of the war coincided with the Russo-Turkish War of 1828-1830. To end Turkish rule in Greece, Turkey was attacked by Russia and Istanbul was captured in 1829. The three power took part in the peace settlement and by the by the London Protocol of 1830, a small, independent Greek kingdom was created that was ruled by Prince Otto of Bavaria, a German prince which was acceptable to all three powers.
