French Revolution
The socio-economic and political conditions that prevailed in France in the 18th century instigated the people to rise in revolt against the ruling aristocracy that did not much care for the welfare of the common people. Though feudalism still existed in France during this time, the theory of absolute monarchy was becoming less the ruling class and the clergy. The writings of great thinks like Voltaire, Denis Diderot, and Turgot inspired the people and the idea of equality and freedom was being spread far and wide. The success of the American Revolution and the desire for freedom, led to the outburst of the revolution against the government which was undemocratic and ruthless towards the common man. The existence of the three estates namely the nobility, clergy and the common man who were burdened with heavy were unhappy and frustrated with the situation that instigated a mighty revolution against the present order.
