Military sociology
This is a highly specialized study that deals with the study of different issues related to military as a social group. It also relates to military personnel as a distinct group whose collective action, values is based on shared interest of a collective group within a civil society. Besides, it is also concerned about the interaction of the military with the civil group, government agencies and others in the society. Presently this study has primarily come into existence after the World War II and because of the Cold War scenario. Moreover, it was felt that such an in depth study of military and the society who foretell events that would follow. Besides, it also dealt with the relationship of the military with other military groups or state organizations. To be brief military sociology is all about the impact of the military on the society and vice versa. It also looks at military as a social institution. Besides, it tries to solve military issues based on sociological dimensions. The purpose for this interdisciplinary study is to understand military as a complex sociological phenomenon that has different stages, contexts with multiple levels of interpretation. It is with the help of sociological theories, that role of military and its place in the society could be better understood and appreciated. The study of military sociology would bring to the forefront different aspects related military as a social organization such as the structure of the military organization, the way is different from other occupations in the society, the recruitment practices and the age limit to join the military, the stress in military life, the effect of military on the dependents in the society, the role of religion in the military, recruitment of women in the military ,the control of military by political bodies .
