Applied Sociology
Sociology is a study of members in a social setting. It involves a critical analysis of different social settings and groups that work together for some common goals. Further, it also deals with social institutions and how they help to shape the society and its actions. Furthermore, sociology helps in understanding individual and group behavior or reaction to different issues and how they manage to deal with particular issues of the time. Sociology also provides a critical perspective of the world around based on scientific theories and evidences and through concepts and theories and how these affect societies on the whole. Applied sociology as the term suggests deals with the application of social theories beyond academics in order to see a positive change in the society. This branch of sociology looks into practical issues in the society such as individuals and groups interaction within a society, their role in the society and purposes. It also deals with a systematic study and observation of the society, in relation to the culture and other global issues and how it affects people who live in it. The aim of applied sociology is to improve the social well being of the society on the whole. Applied research that is connected with study involves the partnership of different universities to study individuals, groups and organization in a multidisciplinary environment. In other words, it applies social theories to achieve positive ends in a society. Today, due to globalization and with the advancement of communication and technology, applied sociology is making headway to solve many issues both at the local and global levels.
