Responsibilities of U.S. Citizens
Rights and duties/responsibilities are two sides of a coin. If the citizens enjoy rights it is obligatory that they do certain duties for the progress of the nation. In any democratic country is it the responsibility of every citizen to take part in the democratic process. For instance, citizens need to vote for the right candidates as the country's advancement depends on the governance by the elected representatives of the people. In this way, the power remains in the hands of rightful people and not a dictator. Secondly, it is the responsibility of the people to uphold the constitution and abide by it as it is the highest law in any country. Thirdly, it is important for citizens to serve the nation especially during the time of crisis or war. No citizen should fall back on this duty, as it is with the help of the citizens can the nation get back to normalcy. In addition, it is the prime duty of every citizen to obey the laws(federal or local) of the nation. .It is with obedience to law can citizens demand their rights Besides, it is also mandatory for citizens to pay taxes as good projects can be taken up and the nation to move to greater heights. It is essential that citizens participate in the local communities so that the talent, culture and richness of the local people are brought to the forefront and cherished by the nation and the world at large. The most important duty of a citizen to respect the rights of others and refrain from acts that will harm individuals, property, community or resources of the nation. Conservation of national wealth, prevention of pollution, and upholding the rich values and culture of the nation are other essential duties of responsible citizens.
