Triangular trade
This is a historical term to mean the trade among three ports or regions. But during the colonial period, Britain imposed that countries like America traded only Britain ,but still it managed to trade with French Caribbean and India. The Transatlantic Triangular Trade (middle passage) was the best example of triangular trade that operated during the 17th, 18th, and early 19th centuries between West Africa, Caribbean or American Colonies and European colonial powers. These countries traded with slaves, cash crops, and manufactured goods. Another commodity that was a great value was molasses in the liquid form which went from Caribbean colonies to Europe or to New England .This was a lucrative business as money got from this was used to purchase slaves from West Africa. In the triangular trade, ships from Europe carried copper, cloth, trinkets, slave beads, guns and ammunition to the Africa port. Here these were sold or barbered in exchange for slaves. From here the ships sailed to the New World were the slaves were sold in America and the Caribbean islands. From here, the ships carried cargo like tobacco and hemp from Virginia, sugar, rum and molasses from West Indies and returned to Europe .This completed the triangular trade. Besides, manufactured good from Europe were taken to African coast, slaves from there were taken to the West Indies and from here sugar, tobacco and coffee were taken back to the European countries. This was another triangular trade that existed during the colonial times. Another triangular trade started from colonies taking lumber cotton and meat to the South European countries and from here wine and fruits went to England from where manufactured good were sent to the colonies, thus completing the triangular trade. Though the triangular trade proved profitable to many traders, they found it difficult to complete the circuit.
