Rule of law
All civilized societies follow specific principles which come under the legal term the rule of law unlike the barbaric societies that follow brute force. This term can be traced down to 350 BC. During that time Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle have discussed volumes on how the state should be ruled. According the them if the law of the state is superior to the government than the land is full of promises and is blessed by the gods but if it is the other way round the state would lead to destruction as there are no laws to guide the people. In addition, according to Li Shuguang, a professor in political science, the rule of law can prevent the misuse of power by the government as they have to abide by it. In 1776,when the United States was being found ,the rule of the law was a popular notion of the people popularized by Thomas Pane through his pamphlet Common Sense This emphasized the supremacy of the law and not the king. Later in 1780, John Adams laid this principle in the Massachusetts Constitution which is now upheld by the citizens of America and the basis in all democratic countries in the world. The United Nations also believes in the principle of the rule of law which governs all persons, institutions and entities, public and private, including the State and is accountable to it. Even the World Justice Project, an organization that specializes in the promotion of Rule of Law has laid down four major principles that come under the scope of the rule of law .They are
