Reconstruction-The New Deal
President Theodore Roosevelt during his first term in office introduced a series of reforms which was collectively called the NEW DEAL to bring relief to people who were under a great economic pressure. The basic principles of the New Deal were to control banking and currency, provide federal credit to appropriate owners, provide relief to farmers, stimulate business enterprise, systematize and organize the labor force, provide social security to selective groups so as to tackle unemployment, poverty and other related problems. The different programs that he introduced were the Public Works Projects that created surplus jobs for the people under different public works projects, Social Security System for the senior citizens provided income to retired wage earners, Works Progress Administration enabled people to get jobs at the time of the Great Depression, and Civilian Conservation Corps enabled people to get employment through the building of many parks and structures around the cities, Federal Housing Administration created situations where the banks could recall loans and regulate mortgages on houses and the Works Progress Administration provided innumerable works related to public works which stabilized the unemployment situation in the United States.
