Effects of the Cold War

There were no doubts immense loss of lives and buildings around the world in the poxy wars by the two super powers .These wars had caused other problems, for instance after the withdrawal of the Communist governments , new civil and ethnic conflicts cropped up, particularly in the former Yugoslavia. In addition, the military expenditure of both the countries had risen beyond measures and hence efforts were made to cut military expenditure to a great extent. However, after the disintegration of Soviet Union in 1998, the world became unpopular with US reigning as a number 1 super power in the world.
