Educational Psychology

This branch of psychology deals with the educational settings and their interventions. It influences the teaching methods and general practices in and around the campus.

Educational psychology is concerned with how students learn and develop, frequently focusing on subgroups such as talented children and those subject to certain specific disabilities.

Educational psychology involves not only the learning procedure of early childhood and adolescence, but also includes the social, emotional and cognitive processes that are involved in learning throughout the complete lifespan.

Educational Psychologists conduct experiment with different methods of teaching, proportions of teaching and the social psychology applied in schools and colleges. They are also interested in the role of the school environment and how the social world of a school impacts education and learning.

Educational psychologists explore both to move ahead on theory- such as explaining how people learn, teach, and differ from one another- and to move ahead on practice- such as determining how to improve the method of learning.

In their position within a limited authority, educational psychologists are regularly called upon to recommend or join working/consultation groups on issues concerned with organisation and policy planning.

Some of the educational psychologists who are interested work in the school environment, by giving support to children and assisting their parents and the faculty members with the assessment of that particular child who appears to be having dilemma in school. They deal with the problems encountered by the young ones which involve both socially and emotionally.

The job of an educational psychologist can either be directly or indirectly with the child.

Directly: assessing development and giving counseling. This type of work involves some form of assessment to expose the trouble through discussion with professional colleagues, watching, meeting, or use of test materials. Interventions might map learning programmes and have a two-way work with the teacher. Recommendations are then made to decide the most apt education stipulation for children experiencing educational difficulties.

Indirectly: working with their parents, teachers and other professionals. This type of work requires consultation and careful conversation, as the psychologist's involvement is relevant to people who know little about psychology.
