Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety Disorders, is a general term used to describe a variety of mental disorders. Some of the disorders can be very harmful for self and for others around, but some disorders are very easily curable. The broad type of classification of anxiety disorders are:
- Generalized anxiety disorder: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) happens to be a common chronic disorder that is not focussed on any particular object or situations. This type of disorder is most common among older adults.
- Panic disorder: In panic disorder, a person gets brief attacks of intense terror and apprehension. The person suffering from panic disorder fears and avoids any situation which can induce an attack. These panic attacks, are triggered by stress or fear the specific cause for the attack has yet not been found.
- Phobia: this is a most common type of anxiety disorder; the person always has a fear of coming face to face with the most feared thing.
- Social anxiety disorder: Social anxiety disorder (also known as social phobia) creates a person fear any kind of social interaction, such as public embarrassment or humiliation and many more.
- Obsessive–compulsive disorder: Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is a type of anxiety disorder where the person is compelled to be repetitive obsessive about the things surrounding him or her.
- Post-traumatic stress disorder: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that occurs as a result of a traumatic experience in the past.
- Separation anxiety: Separation anxiety disorder refers to the feeling of anxiety at being separated from a person or from a place. Children are the one who suffer the most in this form of anxiety.
The most common causes of Anxiety Disorders are biological factors or stress. The life style we lead can also be a greater contributor for Anxiety Disorders, the working atmosphere, our social life and many such factors play a great role in causing Anxiety Disorders. The treatment for the Anxiety Disorders are based only on early detections and giving proper treatment at the correct time. The treatment option mainly involves changing of the lifestyle of the person.
