Affect
Affect refers to the emotion the person experiences before and after undergoing the psychology treatment. The affects can last for a long time, or in some cases the affect will last for some duration. The main purpose of a psychology test is to see to that the patients are completely cured and has no lasting side effects. When several tests are conducted, diagnose of the test is based on the results of the affect. It is the effect; the test has on the person helps the doctor determine the cause of the problem. The affect of the test conducted can be both positive and negative on the person.
The person shows the affect of a test through his hand movements, gestures, facial expressions, body language, voice modulation, facial expressions, tears and laughter. And people with psychology disorders show affects at a greater scale and in more dramatic manner. It is the signs shown by the person that helps the doctor better understand the patient and give better remedy to the problem. In short affect is the display of emotion by a person.
Measurement of affect:
It will be always difficult to measure the emotional rate of a person. A simple yet easy way to measure the psychological state of a person is based on the words and expression used by the patient. And a qualified and experienced doctor will understand the message given by client in a correct manner and pass judgements based on it. Basically there are two types of affect.
But in both the cases the culture has a very important role to play. Based on the culture and region the understanding of the positive and negative affect may vary. These emotions can affect the persons involved as well as third parties who are not directly involved so it becomes important to clearly understand the situation.
