Politics in Europe

Politics in Europe is the academia studies that relates to the frequently developing and changing system of politics in the European subcontinent. The coverage of this particular topic is vast as the nations covered within the European region holds a long history right from time when battles raged on to conquer more regions. Several steps were made to ensure political unity among European nations while the present day politics itself is connected to the history of the continent and its various rulers who shaped up its path of unity.

During the period of Iron curtain fall in the year 1989, global changes became in rapid succession which led to the absorption of the German Democratic Republic into the Federal Republic of Germany that led to German Reunification. The region of Western Europe is completely against the Western European Union which has membership from international countries. Europe is politically divided into two regions namely the Eastern and the Western.

British and American presidents Winston Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt along with premier of Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin formed the earliest stages of the politics in Europe and its political agenda that was improvised by the Western European Union.  Eastern Europe and Western Europe are poles apart as they are intervened with the countries like United Kingdom and the U.S. whose political powers are influential. 

Politics in Europe is governed differently with the rise of Western organizations like EU and NATO while the USSR, Russia covers the Eastern politics. The European Union is the thin line that holds the sub continent together with majority of countries in its favor expressing their wish to join it or are already members. Council of Europe governs over political unity by signing treaties, negotiating terms with other countries and so on. EU has a considerable global GDP, Commonwealth of Independent States is a confederation but its powers are very much limited. It is a symbolic organization that coordinates various aspects like finance, trade, marketing and law making.

Another important one is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO which is a military alliance combing all the European states for their combined security and is backed up by the U.S. and Canada. It was convened with a view to strike back if the powerful Soviet Union assaulted them but modern day politics sees no privilege in such a military circuit yet it exists. GUAM organization for democracy and economic development operates towards maintaining economical stability in the Politics of Europe.
