Origin Of Politics

Origin of Politics is as old as civilization itself and the word ‘Politics’ was derived from the Greek term where Polis means city or state while common people used to refer Politikos as issues with respect to the state or city affairs. It is a term that refers to collective decisions made by a group of people on behalf of the large mass of civilians and for the welfare of the social well being.

The English word politics was derived from Latin politicus and French politique but contrary to wide belief, politics is not only practiced in civil government sector but it exists widely in many varied fields such as business entities, educational sectors, product production sector and religious shrines. Wherever there exists more number of people with large scale of power exercised by single or group of individuals, politics will set in for civil rights, equality and prevalence.

Origin of politics from what history reveals begun with Australian aboriginals who had Totem, the widely known social unit. Totems established an organizational behavior right from laws that limited a civilian’s boundaries but provided them with secure environment ruled by wise men of the tribe. Then came the Native Americans or American Indians who followed Tultec civilization. Patriarchal society defined male kinship, marriage of two individuals as permanent and issued paternal authority for the ruling kings. It was the beginning of terms and conditions which had evolved into a judicial body in modern days. The patriarchal system was adopted and popularized by the Jews, Aryans, Arabs, Dravidians, Germans and Celtic people.

Politics began when clans were developed and separated based on their contrast ideologies. The tribes and clans were the first subdivision among human civilization which we see as different political parties now. The state in olden times was the power vested to protect kinship, carry forward the social order, heritage properties and so on. Warfare even though full of bloodshed was a crucial key to the evolvement of politics. When states fought with one another, they were concerned about national security due to disobedience or betrayal by their own society which made them form the judicial system. Juries addressed the case trials based on records, law courts and fictions related to the accused.

Origin of politics began with judicial system and then the executive system to preside over the functions of the state. When two different believers emerged it led to formation of parties and people gained their rights to vote thus forming a democratic constitution that is prevalent throughout the world in the twenty first century.
