INTERNATIONAL POLICY

International Policy of the United State of America is the set of interims based on which it interacts with other foreign nations across the world. The policy also sets standards of interactions which are subject to exercise rights over its institutions, organizations and individual citizens. The international approach and appreciation of a country over others plays a determining role in its worldwide reach. In this scale, United States is one of the highly influential countries of the world. International relationship is handled by the foreign minister who is also the U.S. Secretary of State and also monitors the state-to-state diplomacy. The policies for amiable relationship is laid out based on national interests and are directly presided over by the president.  

International policy revolves based on the Foreign policy agenda of the U.S. Department of State as “to create a more secure, democratic, and prosperous world for the benefit of American people and the international community.” With the base line, the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs on jurisdictional goals as “export controls, including nonproliferation of nuclear technology and nuclear hardware; measures to foster commercial intercourse with foreign nations and to safeguard American business abroad; International commodity agreements; international education and protection of American citizens abroad and expatriation.”

The President of United States plays the role of negotiator with other countries only when approved by the Senate. Despite being the commander in chief with full control over the army, a war can be declared only with the approval of the Congress. The foreign policy in vogue had undergone various changes after the end of world wars while the country’s main goal is to protection of national interests, concern for human rights and commitment to free trade.

International Policy or Foreign Policy law is stated into three types, as three different treaties that could be signed for international negotiation. They are Congressional executive agreement made by the President or the congress. The Executive agreements solely authorized to the President and the Treaties made based on treaty clause in constitution with two third voting majority in Senate. However, U.S. treaties are far more restricted compared to international law treaties made.

United States is a founding member of the NATO, the world’s largest military alliance and shares an amiable relationship with United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Middle East, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine and many others. The state department’s international affairs budget is based on foreign aid and non-military foreign assistance.    

International Policy when managed effectively will move the country forward and despite criticism, America stands apart on global scale.
