China, the developing super power has got so many foreign policies since 1949. The Bandung Spirit has dominated the Chinese from 1955-57; this is found to be more accommodative. This policy has originated from the conference of 29 Asian States held in Bandung during April 1955. Along with China, the post-Stalin Soviet Union has also embraced the lean to one side policy.

Between 1958 – 1970 Beijing’s foreign policies created a feeling in China that the Bandung’s thoughts are worthy enough to extend Chinese influence. This made China to disturb the commitment made to the Pancha Shila, the “Five principles of the People”. As a result China gained accuse of interference in to the policies of Cuba and Cameroon.

The power-oriented set of Foreign policies was focused by Beijing which made it to shift to a less ideologically oriented policy. On the other the USSR seemed to be more threatening and the Chinese military had slipped badly during the Cultural Revolution.

Washington urged China to implement human rights protection and to make China as a liberal democratic state. Without the approval from the United Nation, the U.S bombed Yugoslavia justifying its action on humanitarian grounds. The reluctant China threatened to veto argued that the sovereign rights of the Iraq were violation.

In China there is a saying which states that one can kill a chicken in order to scare a monkey which depicts that kill a minority entity to warn a more significant one. Here, the Republic of Yugoslavia has become the Chicken to warn China to perk up the treatment of its State to its minority groups. China hasn’t got the guts to challenge U.S directly.

Beijing emphasized on a multipolar international environment through which many centers of power can maintain a stable equilibrium having a stiff cooperation and competition. Beijing proclaimed a message “join us and prosper; don’t join us and you take your chance” proposing that the rising tide of China’s economy will lift the boats of all the countries. On the core the main notion that China had in all the models of Chinese foreign policy is the assumption that China will soon emerge as a Superpower.
