Cross-National Political Analysis

Developing a meaningful citizen in the adolescence stage is a challenge, that too the changes that have taken place in the last decade in political, societal, and economical institutions have raised the challenge in encouraging a meaningful citizen. Between 1950 to 1975, there were quiet a number of researches done on developing the political attitudes and the behavior especially among the young people.

On the other hand the cross national political analysis demonstrates that both the ethnic fractionalization and the ethnic separatist movements have got greater impacts on the levels of the political violence. However, in their theory of the ethnic violence the researchers have failed to base the analyses of political violence. Researchers have observed that if the nation’s ethnic divisions are high, then the underlying susceptibility for internal conflict and political violence will also be high. They have used two indicators to serve the cause; they are the ethnic fractionalization or the intensity of ethnic separatist movements.

Looking at the privatization through cross national analysis, there has been an improving accountability in the public sector through privatization. Though the citizens evaluation about the private against the public provision of service is not known to extent expected. In this analysis, the citizens from developed market economies are experimented. They were examined using a heteroskedastic probit analysis in order to measure the certainty and the opinion direction.  The result clearly portrayed the importance of both industrial and national context for the better explanation of the choice between the private or public provision of services.

A cross sectional survey was taken among eleven European democracies together with the data on the type of democracy in which the individuals live in. The basic questions like how the political institutions affect citizen satisfaction with democracy was addressed in this cross national political analysis.

The basic notion that prevailed is that democracy is about winning or losing the election. Yet understanding the democracy involves two different key elements. The first one is the support for the system is mainly based on whether the people belong to the majority or the minority. Those who belong to the majority are more satisfied than those that belong to the minority.

On the other hand a cross national political analysis of the satisfaction of Government has revealed some important information about the satisfaction of the people. Eckstein analyzed when the political authority patterns are not harmonious with the authority patterns in the society the citizens will be less satisfied. At the same time, the confidence in governmental institutions shapes the satisfaction of the citizen with the democratic life.
