COMPARATIVE POLITICS

Comparative politics is a study that is defined better by the method applied to comprehend the motive rather than the object of the study. It is a sub field of political science which learned men claim doesn’t have a substantive focus but rather a visceral of the subject. Also referred to as the comparative government, and the name speaks for itself which is all about comparing the existing system in two or more countries to finally draw conclusion based on the research analysis. Comparative studies of different governments and existing political scenario in different countries help derive a widely accepted and beneficial policy for one country by acquiring the tested and tried methods across the world.

Researchers and political scientists while involved in comparative politics studies will take different factors such as economic prosperity, employment opportunities, educational level attained and compare more factors to derive the solution. People involved in the field are referred to as scientists as they toil to establish empirical relationships between variables which are a common form of study in science. Despite similar, it has a lot of varied explanations that differentiate the studies of comparative government.

While in the field of comparative studies, based on the focused topic it may vary and referred to with different names such as comparative foreign policy, comparative government studies, comparative economy and so on. Even though, the systematic approach is lot like similar to physical science, the method of testing varies as it goes out of the laboratory into the vast, world spread with people and politics. So, political scientists should rely on observation and interpretation of the social and governmental data that they could avail. Unlike science, the variable between which they seek relationship cannot be manipulated and can only be studied, more like monitoring to derive conclusions.

Observing correlations to confirm or rule out a cause and effect relationship is a major part of the studies. It is focused based on the power exercised and rules laid down by the government which affects the social or economic development of the country. For academy, the comparative politics studied by popular social scientists like Aristotle, Alexis de Toqueville briefly analyzed the American political system by comparing it to the British and French governments.
