AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM
The political system of the United States of America is clearly defined based on the Declaration of Independence of 1776 and the Constitution of 1789 which are the basement for the American Federal Government system. The country belongs to the federal constitutional republic in which the powers are equally distributed between the President of the United States, the Congress and the judiciary for able running of the government.
The entire political system followed in America could be distinguished into various sectors and subdivisions while powers possessed by the government bodies vary according to their voice of record. The chief executive branch comes under President’s control while the Senate and the House of Representatives which are the two chambers of Congress control the legislative sector.
Basic implied message is that the entire power will not go to one hand so as to avert drastic decision making and it is was initiated by a French political thinker based on the concept of ‘separation of powers’. It makes sure no separate individual or institutions have too much power to exercise over the nation. The term served in the Office of Constitution is also evenly distributed with a four year term for the President, six years for the Senate and two years for members of the House of Representatives.
Compared to the other democracies, American political system is hugely dominated by the federal entity that exercises rights over both the Congress and the judiciary overlooked by the Supreme and local courts. The political system established begins from the Presidency, Presidential Primaries, the House of Representatives or the commonly known Congress, the Senate, the Supreme Court, the Federal system and the ever existing political parties. Such is the system that a wide range of judicial and constitutional bodies that operate as separate wings yet are controlled by one another in a way.
Apart from the present political system, America also constitute of the oldest form of governance Mayor Council. It was the order of the day during the 20th century when Mayor appoints the executives for different branches until the Commission was found. The commission is a bilinear body that governs over the legislative as well as the executive functions in every city by a group of three elected officials. While these are major form of government, it is further sub divided for the welfare of civilians by county government, town and village government which again shares power in decision making.
