Western Philosophy

Western philosophy is the wide belief and philosophical thought that civilized the Western people which is quite contrast compared to the Eastern philosophy. The term west originally and now refers to the countries including North America and Australia mainly yet some part of Europe, Middle East and Eastern Europe which believes in the ideology besides sticking on to its cultures. Some parts of Greek touch prevail in West and even the word philosophy itself was derived from Philosophia which means love of wisdom.

Thinking ahead and with a wide craving for wisdom was the origin of Western philosophy or even other ideologies of the world. It was derived by a slew of philosophers with different approach on almost the same outcome while different subjects like mathematics, astronomy and science had become part of these. Sometimes, the notions of the West isn’t as organized as of its other counterparts due to come vague explanations and too many people working on it to idealize the minds.

The ideas of philosophers of were divided into various branches according to their field of interest and expertise. Even the general subject as physics was the study of world while being divided into metaphysics and natural science. Stoics division of philosophy dealing with ethics and logic dominated the philosophical research in the ancient times but it had underwent drastic changes in contemporary times with epistemology, ethics, aesthetics being the fore coverage while making academic notions.

In the study of ideologies related to West, Logic had been considered an essential means of subject while it mainly relied on science, mathematics by popular philosophers of different eras. The mainly divided eras to know philosophical approach are ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary. In Western beliefs, it has various sub-disciplines to be considered which can be broadly termed as one namely Analytic and Continental philosophy. Sub dividing philosophy based on the experts opinion and making it as one is difficult task which is the main branch of continental philosophy. But, on the contrast, it is very comfortable to divide the entire studies of analytic philosophy for easy study which philosophers preferred to in each area of subjects.

With changing times, the sub disciplines change constantly due to lack of interest or when philosophers started concentrating on new ones according to the requirement. Western philosophy had metaphysics for a long time while analytic had become the order of the day.
