Six Sigma

In the business management strategy, the role of DMAIC is felt very much. As a methodology, DMAIC is the metric measurement which is used to measure the defects and there are about two methods used to implement the Six Sigma which is the quality improvement process that is being introduced by Motorola in the year of 1986. Bill Smith is the person who introduced the process Six Sigma in order to increase profitability in the business process. Of the two utilized by Six Sigma, DMAIC plays a vital role.

There are five steps which are embedded in the DMAIC. DMAIC is the acronym for the words Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. The first step is defining where you would define the process, the problem and the goals of the process. The poorly defined problem leads to slowing down of the business. On the other hand, if the problem is identified clearly in quantitative term it can help decrease the net sales.

The second step is measure where a measurement and the collection of the data are carried out. The main purpose of measurement is to find out the data that would be able to determine the factors that have control over the outcome of the procedure and the process.  The third step is the analyzing part where several statistical tools would be used to analyze the data. The analysis is carried mainly to find out whether the problem is solvable and whether it is real problem. It also analyzes the sources within the Six Sigma framework that makes the problem unsolvable. The next step focuses on identifying the solutions for the problem. After identifying whether the problem is real or not the next step is improvement where possible solutions for improving the process are identified using several data analysis. The final step which is control deploys several control mechanisms that are required to maintain sustainability in the solutions and make the system to deliver peak performance. Of the several purposes of the control panning the performance is of severe concern. It also monitors that the deviations that have taken place earlier do not result into defects in the process.

DMAIC is fairly known as the best component of the Six Sigma which helps a lot in eliminating the defects. Many top corporations in the United States uses Six Sigma and found it be very helpful in improving the efficiency of the work and eliminating the defects. The total quality management and he Zero defect principle are some other management tools which influence Six Sigma to a great extent.
