Is that important to have a Product Layout? Yes! It will help us to less down our work since the material flow is continuous alongside. When comparing to process layout it needs very less space but the production will the same as the process layout. And it will take less time on sitting with the machines; chances are very less for congestions. Product Layout gives better co-ordination even on the different activities, better control and product planning made easier. Less skill level needed for workers and there will be one particular person who will be doing the operation, only some changed will be done rarely due to standard production line up. And the flow of material will be smooth and continues flowing.

Process Layout:  it is based on the work done by a department with the same kind of machines and equipments which is used in different departments. Each department is specialized in the operation of production and machine related works which is gather in the same place.

Smooth Flow and Production: in Product Layout flow of production is economical and steady, the work stopping at different places will not happen since the proper planning and arrangement of machines and equipments are provided properly. In process layout is not arranged properly so there will be a high chance of work interruption.

Economical and Handling Materials: in Product Layout the materials are furnished from one end and received from other end which doesn’t required any transportation of raw materials and this will reduce the manufacturing time and economy. Since everything arranged in proper manner the production of material will flowing quickly and no interruption of work since the material handling is done in a proper manner.

Work Progress and Inspection: hence the production of material is done directly and since there is no work interruption, work is minimum and negotiable in the Product Layout. It is easy to inspect the work because the production of work is merged and the flow of materials is continuous. And the defective parts are easily Visible which is separated without stopping the work.

Control of Production and Labor Cost:  in this Product Layout the control of production is excellent due to planned operations and visual control replacing. And the paper work will be more since the multiple records are used. The semi-auto and automatic machines are used in this layout so the skilled and unskilled labors are recruited and the training will be easier for them.
