ISO 9000 Certification

The standards that are materialized and designed to help the organization fulfill the needs of the customer is called ISO 9000. The international organization for standardization is the publishes these standards and these standards are available through the national standard bodies though out. The basics of the quality management systems are the eight management principles which has been the basement for the family of systems. ISO 9000 ensures that the organization meets the requirements and provides good support to the customers.

The third party certification bodies are the source for obtaining the ISO 9001 and the organizations can get the certification from there if they meet the requirements.

In 1987 ISO 9001 was first practiced. The BS 5750 which is a series of the standards form has been the base for ISO 9001. This plan was proposed to ISO in the year 1979 and then it gained momentum in the forth coming years. Reckoning the history of this would take us about twenty years back. BSI is the monitoring factor which certified the organizations on the basis of the quality management systems from 1978. There are about seventy thousand sites throughout the world that came under the umbrella of BSI. This later evolved in to ISO 9000.

There are several factors that are needed to get ISO certification. There are many purchasers who want their suppliers to be a holder of this certification. There are number of studies carried on the benefit of getting the ISO certification. Of the benefits, one important benefit is the superior return that the organizations which holds the certification would be experiencing on their assets. Even the improvements in the performance of the companies were noted in addition to the superior financial performance of the company. This has been proved by many companies in Denmark. Tamimi in 2003 noticed that the shareholders were awarded richly as a result of the certification.
