SURGERY ANATOMY

Surgery anatomy is a branch of science that deals with study of surgical biology or surgery medicine.  It utilizes medical instruments and techniques for treating the patients suffering from pathogenic diseases. The action of performing surgery is referred as surgical procedure. The person who helps in surgical operation is referred as surgical nurse. Surgery anatomy involves methods to examine animals by dissecting living human beings. Basic and detailed knowledge of anatomy is most important for any individual who perform surgery especially surgeons and specialized doctors dealing histopathology and radiology study. Individuals who perform surgery are surgeons are referred as medical practitioners in general. The term surgeons also refer to dentists, physicians, veterinarians and podiatric physicians.

Terminology description

Surgery is piercing of cells or tissues to treat the infected organs. Medical practice like angioplasty and endoscopy may be referred as surgery. The surgery should be carried out in aseptic conditions with the help of anesthesia and surgical equipments. Surgical instruments are used for piercing and suturing. They are invasive process.

Surgical anatomy types

Surgery procedures are carried out depending on the need for emergency to operate, surgical procedures types, condition of organ system to be operated and with the availability of specialized treatment. They are classified as follows.

  • Elective surgery: This surgery is carried out when patient recommends to-do it. It is done to erect some conditions which do not threaten the life.
  • Emergency surgery: This is carried out to save the loss of life or loss of body parts and or loss of organ systems.
  • Exploratory surgery: This helps in proper diagnosis of patient.
  • Therapeutic surgery: This helps in prevailing early diagnosed medical conditions.
  • Amputation: This involves piercing of organs or body parts in specific limb or finger.
  • Replantation: This surgery helps in attaching the body parts back to normal condition.
  • Reconstructive surgery: This helps in reconstruction of body part which are completely or partially damaged or injured.
  • Cosmetic surgery: This is carried out to increase the structural appearance especially after accident.
  • Excision: This treatment pierces the organs, cells or tissues of individual patients.
  • Transplant surgery: This replaces the body parts or organ system in the same individual or other patients.
  • Laser surgery: Use of laser for surgical operations.
  • Microsurgery: Use of microscope to magnify small organisms for operation.
  • Robotic surgery: Use of Da Vinci or Zeus surgery as surgical robot system.
  • Minimally invasive surgery: This involves miniature incisions of surgical equipments like endoscopy and laparoscopy.
