GYNECOLOGY/ OBSTETRIC NURSING CAREERS

Obstetrics and gynecology is separate field in nursing however they could be also combined and work as one. Gynecology and obstetric nurses give treatment and care to the women in related to their reproductive health or pregnancies at all stages of their lives. The nurses duties is also to support and educate their female patients while it comes to any types of reproductive or pregnancies problems that might arise. Many obstetric and gynecology nurses select to specialize in a particular area, such as labor and delivery and perinatal nursing.

The reproductive nurses are concerned with the female’s health and life from beginning of the menstruation until after the menopause is over and beyond. Obstetrics and gynecology nursing is not a general field of nursing however it is a specialty which needs more experience and extra education. These reproductive nurses do a wide range of useful tasks for women and for their babies.  They offer essential medical care throughout pregnancies periods when they also help with both delivery and labor during the childbirth time. During the postpartum time these nurses could also provide to their patients the education and medical assistance they need to be the best mothers they could be.

Training and Education

 If you love little babies and would like to assist women with their reproductive lives then the right profession of you is to become a gynecology and or obstetric nurse. In order to become an obstetrics / gynecology nurse, you have to first become a registered RN or nurse. In order to get registered you have to write and pass the state’s board nursing examination or NCLEX. You then have to go to the university and get a degree in nursing or BSN. A degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing would take about 4 to 6 years to complete. Gynecology/obstetric nurses have to get additional certifications in several other fields as well. The salary packages would vary according to the experiences, knowledge, medical institutions and various other factors.
