The Word Screen
The Microsoft Word screen is a user-friendly, simple and highly customizable interface for word processing. There are three main bars at the top of the window, which are the control seats for working in the Word. There are two more bars at the bottom of the screen.
The top line is the Menu bar. It has menu option such as File, Edit, and View etc. If you click on any of these, a pull-down menu appears. The various operations in Word can be accomplished by selecting at the bottom of the screen.
Next is the Standard toolbar. It has icons for most of the frequently used commands in Word. For instance, there is an icon which looks like a floppy disk. Clicking once on that icon will save your document. If you click on the icon which looks like printer, your current document will be printed, if your computer is connected to the printer. The one which has a tick mark with ABC written over it will activate the spelling and grammar check.
Below the Standard toolbar is the Formatting toolbar. It has the necessary buttons, which will give your document a better look. For instanced, you can make certain parts of your document, such as heading, in bold. Or you can make important words appear in italics or underlined. You can make your text left; center or right aligned or aligned both on the left and right margins.
Another important toolbar is the Drawing toolbar. This toolbar helps in drawing objects in a Word document.
The last bar is the Status bar which tells about the current page number of the document, total pages in the document and lots of other statistical information including the number line, column number and many more.
