Task Panes
A Task Pane is similar to a window and allows you lo select and alter documents. By default it appears at the right in the Microsoft Word window.
The Task Pane can be turned on/off by choosing (View) Task Pane OR by choosing (View) toolbars. Task Pane or by right clicking on a toolbar and selecting Task Pane.
The Task Pane appears automatically when the Office XP application is first started (excluding Microsoft Outlook). To turn off the automatic display of the Task Pane uncheck the Show at startup check box located below the New Document options Task Pane OR choose tools Options View. Startup Task Pane, Underneath the Open a document and New from template headings a list of files that have been previously used may be displayed, example, New Features of Word 2002.
Title Bar: Identifies the current Task Pane option. In order to move the Task Pane, you have to click and drag the title bar to different or another location.
Other Task Panes: Clicking on the w displays other Task Pane options that can be selected
Back: Displays the previous Task Pane option
Forward: Displays the Task Pane used before Back' was clicked
Close: Closes the Task Pane
The Task Pane has the following options.
Task panes are vertical windows that dock on either side of the Word window. Task panes exist to help you complete a specific task by providing quick access to relevant commands within the pane and are only visible when requested. They don't automatically appear when you first open Word. An example is the Styles task pane that displays all the styles available for formatting the current document. Other panes available in Word 2010 include the Navigation pane, the Research pane, and the Reviewing pane.
