Auto Correct
Auto Correct is a very handy feature of Word. It is designed to automatically correct common spelling mistakes that one commits during typing. Word has a built-in table of common typing errors along with the correct spelling. Word uses this table to automatically correct the spelling. Therefore, even before you realize that you have typed an incorrect entry, Word will automatically correct the spelling. For instance, if you misspell the word automatically as automaticaly, Word will automatically change the incorrect spelling and replace it with the correct spelling.
In addition to automatically correcting the common typing mistakes, you could also add your own set of words or phrases to the Auto Correct table. These words or phrases may be pertaining to your own working style or environment. For instance, you can enrich the word table s by adding the commonly used as scientific or technical word. You can also feed into this table, certain spelling mistakes that commonly occur while you type and are not present in the Auto Correct table.
In addition, you can also use Auto Correct to insert words and phrases you use frequently. Suppose your project name is Hominidae or Homo sapiens. You are creating a document in which this name has to appear several times. Instead of typing this name every time you could store this name, let us say by the letters HS. Next time when you desire to type the name of your project, simply type the letters HS and press enter or the spacebar. The Auto Correct will automatically write the full name of your project i.e. Homo sapiens. Therefore, an Auto Correct entry could also automatically insert stored text as you type. This saves a lot of time while typing or doing your project.
