The branch of science is to deal about mind and behavior is referred as psychology. The word psychology was derived from Latin refers to breath or sprit or simply as soul. The ultimate aim of this branch of science is to clearly understand human behavior and mental process by researching deeply and thereby establishing the general rules and principles and also in case of special cases.  The applied psychology is a branch of psychology mainly concentrates on benefit to the society. The one who practice psychology is referred as psychologists. Psychologists can also be classified as behavioral scientist, cognitive scientist or as social scientist. Psychologists study the functions of mental behavior of an individual and also social behavior in specific. By this functional study they explore the physiological process and neurological process that underlie the functions and human behavior.

The main functions that are explored are cognition, attention, perception, motivation, behavior, personality, brain functioning, and or interpersonal relationships. The unconscious mind is taken into consideration in case of depth psychologists. The empirical methods are employed b psychologists to interfere correlation relationships and casual relationships that exist between psychological variables.  Some clinical psychologists and counseling psychologist adapt empirical methods and deductive methods to interpret the behavior of an individual. Psychology incorporates the various other fields such as social science, humanities and natural science including philosophy.

The knowledge on psychology is more applicable to assess and also to treat mental health problems. It also helps in better understanding and problem solving skills from various spheres of human behavioral activity.  The psychologists are more involved in some form of therapeutic usage considering counseling problems, social situations and clinical trial. Some of the psychologists are associated with industries or organizations areas such as sports, health, law, forensics, law and human development.
