Neuroscience
The branch of medical science that deals with nervous system is referred as neuroscience. From ancient time neuroscience is dealt as a branch of biology. The present day concerns neuroscience as an interdisciplinary science that correlates various fields such as computer science, mathematics, philosophy, engineering, medicine, physics, psychology and chemistry. The concept neurobiology can be used in place of neuroscience and vice versa. Neurobiology refers to biological study of nervous system whereas neuroscience refers to science of nervous system. The aspects and scope of neuroscience include the various approach of study such as structural, cellular, developmental, functional, molecular, medical, evolutionary and computational aspects of the nervous system. The individual who practice neuroscience is referred as neuroscientists. They have contributed a lot to study molecular and cellular concept of nerve cells, sensory cell imaging and brain motor tasks. The recent advance of neuroscience led to the study of advanced techniques like neural networks.
The International Brain Research Organization was started in the year 1960, European Brain & Behavioral Society was founded in the year 1968 and Society for Neuroscience was founded in the year 1969.
Disciplines of neuroscience
Following are the major disciplines of neuroscience.
The research and development of neuroscience field remain unanswered for a long time. In specific cognitive neuroscience research is incomplete. The neuro scientists are supposed to completely understand and explain the neural basis of consciousness, sensation, sleep, memory and learning in detail. The evolution of brain and development are not resolved till date. By answering these unresolved questions it may pave way for treatment of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and other neuro disorders.
