Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a type of cancer found in lymphatic tissues and cells of human immune system. Lymphoma exist as solid tumor as lymphoidal cells. The lymphoma can be treated with the help of chemotherapy, in some situations radiotherapy and bone marrow transplantation is employed. The cure of lymphoma is dependent on type of infection, stage and histology of disease. Tumor cells are synthesized in the lymph nodes and thereby it enlarges as node. Tumors can also affect the other organs and it is referred as extranodal lymphoma. The extranodal sites are brain, skin, bowels, and bone. Lymphoid leukemia is more closely related to lymphoma and can also be originated in lymphocytes general place of formation are bone marrow and circulating blood. However this does not form static tumors. Lymphomas are divided into many types and in turn lymphomas form a part of major disease group called as hematological neoplasms.

The lymphoma was first introduced by Thomas Hodgkin in the year 1832. He has given working formulation classification in the year 1982. It includes non Hodgkin lymphoma which is subdivided in to 16 more different types of diseases. The latest standard classification is given by World Health Organization (WHO) in to 43 various forms of lymphoma among four major groups. The world health organization has published in the year 2001 and it was updated in the year 2008. The earlier classification is regarded as histiocytic lymphomas and is being recognized by new classifications as T, NK and B cell linage. Histiocytic malignancies are very in occurrence and are being considered as sarcomas. Watchful waiting is an initial course of reactions. Lymphoma is widely found hematological malignancy or blood cancer found all around the world. The individual with weaken immune system suffer from HIV infection and other drug mediated diseases.
