Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical engineering is a branch of science that deals with application of engineering principles and related techniques to the field of engineering and medical. This engineering bridges the gap that exists between engineering and medicine field. It also includes the problem solving skills and designing skills of engineering along with medical science and biological science in order to enhance the healthcare diagnostic methods, monitoring and treatment for disorders. The recent and emerging application in comparison with other engineering fields for instance evolution is an interdisciplinary approach of biomedical engineering. The biomedical engineering fields are usually research and developmental type and it also spans number of broad array of medical subfields.
The prominent biomedical engineering applications are biocompatible prostheses development, diagnostic medical devices and therapeutic medical devices ranging from laboratory equipments such as MRIs and EEGs to implants, biotechnological applications for instance regenerative growth of tissues, pharmaceutical applications for instance drugs. The individual who practice biomedical engineering are referred as biomedical engineers. They require the knowledge of both medical science and engineering applications.
Disciplines of biomedical engineering
Interdisciplinary field of biomedical engineering includes various engineering fields and medical fields. The diversity of biomedical engineering is broad as follows.
Biomedical engineering also couples with other field of engineering science as follows.
