Bioethics
The branch of science that deals about controversy of ethics which are brought by advanced technologies in medicine and biology. The individual who practice bioethics are referred as bioethicists and they are mainly concerned about ethical questions that arise due to biotechnology, politics, law, philosophy and life science. The word bioethics was derived from Greek word ‘bios’ meaning life and ‘ethos’ meaning behavior. It was first coined by Fritz Jahr in the year 1927. He first anticipated the discussions and arguments in the biological research of animal in bioethical imperative article. The American biochemist named Van Rensselaer Potter introduced the term global ethics in the year 1970. The global ethics discipline describes the link that exists between ecology, medicine, human values and biology in order to benefit the human being and animal species.
The bioethical issues exist right from ancient times and it mainly focus on the role on human in biomedical equipment field that follows the Nazi experiments. Nazi experiments were conducted in the year during Second World War. Technical advances such as organ transplantation that targets end of life care. The bioethical field has focused on human injury in broad spectrum that ranges from debates above the boundaries of life. The reasons that concern bioethical field are medical care along with religious reasons and cultural reasons. The bioethicists are responsible for evaluation of ethical questions or sub questions of biological field and medical field. Some of the bioethicists shall evaluate ethical questions in relation to medical treatments or innovations in technology. The present day bioethicist address experiments on humans. For this national commission for the protection of human subjects of biomedical and behavioral research was established in the year 1974 in order to identify the principles of basic ethics which underlie the conduct of behavioral research and biomedical research which resolve using human experiments.
