Alcohol Addiction
We can call alcohol addiction also as alcohol-dependence. Alcohol addiction is inveterate disease where the body depends totally upon the alcohol. Control is lost by a person after consuming and may be unaware about the quantity that has been drunk or has to be consumed. Despite of knowing about the problems caused by it at the place of work, health and relationships a person still continues drinking. Some symptoms which are visible are craving, control’s loss as well as physical-dependence.
Alcoholism’s causes include:
- Drinking steadily – drinking regularly alcohol since a long period can lead to production of physical-dependence upon the alcohol.
- Sex – as compared to women, a man is dependent more on the alcohol.
- Age – The person who started drinking in his teenage or minor age is more prostrate for the alcoholism.
- History of family – If any child’s parents are dependent upon alcohol automatically then he has high chances of getting addicted to alcohol.
- Depression – Person who is not having peace of mind such as anxiety or depression also gets prone to alcohol.
- Cultural and social factors – A person has high chances of addiction to alcohol if any of his close friend or partner consumes alcohol very often.
Symptoms of addiction to alcohol include:
- Feeling compulsion or strong requirement for the drink.
- Drinking secretly or alone.
- Cannot control after consuming one or two pegs.
- Symptoms of physical-withdrawal like shaking, sweating and nausea.
- Forgetting commitments and conversations.
- Quaffing drinks as well as ordering for more.
- Keeping of alcoholic drinks in secret and rare areas at working place, home or car.
- Getting miffed when a time of consuming alcohol comes but he does not have alcohol with him during that time.
- Body signs like loss of weight, nose’s redness, gastritis etc are visible in a person who is dependent on alcohol.
- Problems like employment, relationship or finance arises because of drinking.
