Applied Mathematics

Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics which deals mainly the mathematical techniques. The application of mathematical principles and theories in science and engineering disciplines are referred as applied mathematics. Applied mathematics finds its own application in domains of mathematical field. This field plays a significant role in engineering and natural science. It was widely used in Second World War. Theories such as social choice theory and game theory were widely accepted applied mathematical theories. Biology application of applied mathematics is applicable in the field of neuroscience. Application of applied mathematics to computer is referred as numerical analysis. One such applied mathematics called statistics is used in social science study.

Divisions of applied mathematics

As science and mathematics changes over a periodic time it is difficult to predict branches of applied mathematics. Applied mathematics concerns more about applied analysis by simplified differential equations, applied probability and approximation theory. However applied mathematics is correlated with Newtonian physics development. Difference between physicist and mathematician is not much clear until mid 19^th century. Classical mechanics and fluid mechanics of 20^th century were thought to be a part of applied mathematics. Applicable mathematics is differentiated from applied mathematics. The applicable mathematics incorporates principle of physics and mathematics to the problems of world today.

In the field of biology, applied mathematics helps in easy prediction of growth of organisms using population model. Some scientist like Arnold and Poincare demand that applied mathematics is nowhere; it is only the application of mathematics. Non mathematician claim the application of mathematics to resolve the industrial problems are referred as industrial mathematics. Advances in applied mathematics led to the development of software, computational science, actuarial science, operation research and management science, statistics, scientific computing, computational mathematics and computational engineering. These developments are considered as interdisciplinary approaches of applied mathematics.
