Movement of Robots

Different Robots will have different types of movements. However, speaking about the simplest way of locomotion or movement, robots will make use of four wheels to move from one place to other. Most of the researchers are tired of trying to achieve giving some complex movements to their robots. Many researchers have failed in making their robots to move with one or two wheels. When there is less number of wheels used, it can benefit the robot by increasing its efficiency, reduced parts, navigation in tight places etc.

Some of the classifications of robots based on their movements are as follows:

Two wheeled balancing robots- usually all balancing robots including the two wheeled balancing robots will make use of gyroscope in order to make sure that it is not loosing the balance. There are two wheels given to these robots for locomotion, the gyroscope will help these robots to counter balance, and as a result, the robots can move.

One wheel balanced robots: There are certain modifications made to the two wheeled robots in order to remove one wheel and thereby making it able to move in two dimensional directions. There is a round ball given to these one wheel balanced robots for making move easily.

Spherical robots: There are also robots, which are fixed inside a spherical ball, and can move from one place to other by rotating.

Walking robots: This is the dream of every researcher out there researching in the labs of robotics. Although some of the researchers were able to build robots, which can walk like human beings, the unfortunate part here is that the walking style of these robots was not as robust as that of a man. There are several techniques like dynamic balancing, hopping, ZMP technique etc, which are already been employed for making walking robots.
