Motion transmission:

An indexing means engages and disengages an energy storage mans that is constantly rotating. During the disengagement of the energy storage means, a means of motion transmission, whose rotation is responsive to the rotation of the energy storage means, intermittently drives cam programming means of a timer. In an escape for a sequential timer, in which a cam programming means is rotationally indexed around a cam carrying shaft that opens and closes electrical switches, an orbital indexing means intermittently engages and disengages a constantly rotating energy storing means. This disengagement of the above said orbital indexing means releases energy stored in the energy storage means and permits a motion transmission means to rotationally index a predetermined amount in response to the rotating motion of the energy storage means.

During the escapement of the sequential timer as per the above conditions, the orbital indexing means includes an orbiting ring surrounding the cam carrying shaft and a planetary means together with the motion transmission means and the orbiting ring, the planetary stepping means intermittently engages and disengages in the energy storage means.

The present day inventions relate to a means that converts motion to an intermittent motion. The constant motion is to be rotational while the intermittent motion may be rotational or linear. These inventions relate to timers and to the means for provision of new and useful movements in the timers and a plurality of the controlling switches adapted to operate under the control cams. To be specific, the present inventions deal with the escapement means of such sequential timers. Such timers have established programs to which the intermittent drive mechanism drives them.  This intermittent mechanism is a way of coupling the output shaft o constant motors to the timer’s control cams.
