What is a two-column proof?

A proof that has numbered statements and reasons that exhibit the logical sequence of a debate is referred to as a two-column proof. In other words, a proof is the one that possesses statements with numbers and respective reasons to prove it.

Statements Reasons
Each statement is either given information or the consequence of applying a known property or concept to statements already made. Each reason is the account for the respective statement.

What is a theorem?

A theorem is a true statement that follows as a result of other true statements.

What are the congruence properties of segment?

The three congruence properties of segment are as follows:

  • Reflexive Property: For any segment BC, segment BC is congruent to segment BC.

    BC = BC

  • Symmetric Property: If segment BC is congruent to segment DE, then segment DE is congruent to segment BC.

    DE = BC

  • Transitive Property: If segment BC is congruent to DE and segment DE is congruent to segment FG, then segment BC is congruent to segment FG.

    BC = FG

Summary:

If the segments satisfy the above said properties, then they are said to be congruent.
