Information Architecture
IA is the short form of Information architecture is the art of representing or expressing a concept or model of information which is used in the activities that need clear details of the complex systems. These activities are, Content Management Systems, library systems, critical system software design, enterprise architecture, technical writing, programming, database development, user interactions and web development. The IA or information architecture has quite different meanings in these different fields of information technology or information system or information technology architecture. Many of the definitions have the common features such as the structural design of the shared environments process of labeling and organizing websites, online communities and intranets and methods of bringing the principles of architecture and design to the digital landscape.
The term IA or information architect was coined by Richard Saul Wurman. He sees architecture as the used in the terms architect of the foreign policy i.e. architect as in the creating of structural, , orderly and systemic principles in order make something work-the capable making of either idea or artifact, or policy which informs since it is clear. Information architecture is the specialized skill set which interprets data and expresses difference between systems of signs and signs. IA originates, to some level, in the library sciences. Most of the schools with information science and library science departments teach their students about the information architecture.
Information architecture is the classification of the data or information into a logical structure, preferably one which most people could easily and quickly understand, if not inherently. Information architecture generally hierarchical however could have other structures, like chaotic or concentric. In the context of information systems design, IA, refers to the design and analysis of the information stored by information systems, focusing on entities, their interrelationships and their attributes.
