Supervisorial Development

Supervisorial development is an exercise to develop the skills of individuals who play the role of supervisors in an organization. Supervisorial development helps supervisors to do the following

  • Planning
  • Delegation
  • Decision making
  • Meeting management
  • Problem solving
  • Performance management and performance improvement
  • Coaching & counseling

Planning:  It is the supervisor whose responsibility to plan out jobs for his team.

Delegation:  A good supervisor will delegate work to his team in a right manner, with full knowledge of what he would get from the employee

Decision-making:  It is the supervisor of the team who takes important decisions which will affect the team in a good manner or bad.

Meeting management:  Supervisors have to conduct his team members in a manner that meetings are organized timely and fruitfully.

Problem solving:   Supervisors are responsible to solve problems within the team and within the organization to the benefit of the employee and the organization.

Performance management & performance improvement:  Supervisors must monitor and manage the performance of employees.   They have the responsibility to enhance the performance of employees by understanding their feelings and giving trainings in areas that are required.

Coaching & counseling:   Coaching the employee in areas where knowledge and skill is required for on the job is essential.

Training is very important for supervisorial development.  During training supervisors usually learn to analyze business procedures and processes to enhance performance and cost saving and also how to protect employees confidence and recognize work place problems.

Supervisors play a very close role in the association of employees and poor supervisors often cause a host of problems in the organization.   However, a supervisor with sharp supervisory skills immediately becomes an asset to the organization and solves problems with the art of disciplinary techniques he gains by supervisorial development, and helps him by deal in the right manner with problems by using body language which is an important tool for supervisors.  

Upon receiving supervisorial development through training, supervisors should implement what they have learnt, by creating and maintain a safe working atmosphere in the organization, productive and work environment in a positive step.   Supervisors should take time to discuss with their employees to know the inner feelings of employees and any hidden grievances that may exist in employees.
