Employee Training
Employee training is necessary to increase the skills and performance of the employee within the organization. Employees learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process when training is relevant and practical, the training material is organized and presented in chunks. When training is in an informal, quiet, and comfortable setting, when they have a good trainer, when they receive feedback on performance and when they are rewarded.
Developing a Job-Training Program includes a training plan: A detailed plan for carrying out employee training for a unit of work, establishing performance standards: they provide a ready made structure for a training program, writing a training objective derived form above and developing standard procedures (listing tasks and spelling them out).
While developing a Unit Training Program it is necessary that it is taught in several sessions, and that it should provide check points to measure progress. It should include two elements, namely showing and telling the employee what to do and having the employee do it (right). Training people with some experience begins with a pretest. It is necessary to carry out the training program with employees who do not meet standards. Once the training process is completed evaluation is required. Summative evaluation measures results when training is complete in terms of Knowledge, behavior, attitudes and productivity.
Job Instruction Training also called on the job training consists of 4 steps:
Sometimes retraining is needed when changes are made that affect the job, employees performance drops below par, or when the worker has not mastered a particular technique. A positive one-on-one approach to retraining is referred to as coaching may be necessary in this case.
