Tourism management
A career in international hospitality and tourism management encompasses hotels, restaurants and travel, to be concise. There is much more involved within each of these headings. Hospitality management by itself involves the management of administration of running hotels, and may include everything from the front desk to catering and entertainment. Tourism management involves the movement of people during their vacations. They will find various destinations for people on holiday to visit. It will involve the journey to the destination and the stay there itself. They would need to know all about the facilities in which their travelers would be staying, and other comforts offered. They would get their vacationers involved in the activities while on their tour
The education involved in this type of career may be of special interest to developers in timeshares and other vacation ownership. As well, it would be beneficial to people managing visitor’s bureaus, members of hotel and motel associations, and hotel and restaurant developers. The management of tourism is also quite involved. It consists of moving people from one place to another, within their vacation time limits. The journeys, as well as the stay, are the things that you will be responsible for. This tourist destination must be a short stay by nature, a temporary outing of maybe a day or perhaps up to a few days. You must know all about the inclusions in the packages of the tours, arrange for activities at this next destination, and organize the general comfort of your guests. Knowing another language would greatly help in the international hospitality and tourism management careers. The ease of communicating with your guests and clients will make their vacation experience a memorable one. More than one language is, indeed, always a great tool to have in any career. The monuments, arch’s should be all preserved for tourism and betterment.
Another very popular style of tourism these days is eco-tourism. It is greening up the tourism, if you will, and it is generally arranging for tours that are responsible in an environmental way.
A very important issue also identified is that of culture management. Tourist must be given a code of conduct and be educated to behave in a certain way when visiting particular sites as to conform and integrate with the local community to avoid conflict. Tourist themselves have, or should have, an obligation to observe codes of behavior and be aware of cultural norms in the destination they are visiting (Howie, 2003).
