National Sanitation Certification
In the realm of hospitality, certifications for certain areas become mandatory. This certification is issued by the National sanitation foundation for individuals competing against the industry standards. National sanitation foundation is a world health organization collaborate center and non-profit organization founded in the year 1944, to standardize sanitation and food safety when there were no standards in the United States for such.
Establishment
The founders of this welfare organization were Walter Snyder, Henry Vaughn and Nathan Sinai. These three strived to develop standards for sanitation with the help of the public entity where all the people are members to achieve the goal. Now it serves over more than 100 companies worldwide and is head quartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Certificating Necessary for Products
The role of NSF here is to certify the materials used in the construction of products for the food service industry. Stainless steel and hardwoods like cutting boards, knives, cutleries and the products used in the food service industry has to get the certification from NSF before put into use. National sanitation certification gives assurance to use these products at home and then commercial places like hotel, restaurants, schools, hospitals anywhere in the food service industry. The standards take into consideration of various factors such as testing materials, construction techniques and cleaning requirements.

Apart from food service, the other important certification is provided for drinking water system components and for major public health solutions such as drinking water treatments, contact materials, health and wellness supplements, in plumbing manufacturing, refuse containers and dishwashing components. National Sanitation Certification differs in the procedures and process through which it is getting done in many countries. But the certification issued by NSF holds much value and are reliable. The rejected certification for any product in case of discrepancy found has to prove if they persist in getting a certificate and before putting them into use.
Today in most of the hospitality centers having this certification is compulsory for any health, food and safety practices. The awareness has spread so much in the west that at times people even ask for certificated hospitality centers and choose tourism places depending upon the same criteria. Though all these things are available yet there are certain restaurants and local shops where this has to be realized and established. If it were taken seriously that can bring down health risks and relatively plenty of diseases will vanish.
