Separatism
Advocacy of religious, cultural, racial, ethnic or gender separation from a big group is referred to as separatism. There are certain groups which refer to themselves as self-determination, independence or decolonization movements instead of an addition to secession movements.
Separatism is equated with racial segregation, religious segregation, and even sexual segregation by some critics. According to the arguments hold by separatists, the separation initiated by choice is not similar to the separation which is enforced by the government.
There are several motivational factors that lead to separation. Of these various motivations the most prominent one is the emotional resentments of the communities that are in rivalry, the resistance posed by the victims of the oppression which includes the denigration of the culture, religion or even the language of the victims, and as a preservation technique of the language or religion that is threatened. Separatism is also followed to protect themselves from genocide and ethnic cleansing. Even if there is a perception stating that, the government cannot support its own group no longer, if the government has betrayed the interests of the group then it can lead to separatism.
