Fathers And Families

Fathers and families was founded in 1994 as the foundation for fathers and families by Ned Holstein, M.D., M.S., John Cristofano, John Maguire, and Phil Clendenning. In 2002 the organization name was shortened to “Fathers & Family”. This organization is dedicated to shielding or protecting a child’s right to the love and care of each parent. Fathers and families advocate for the assumption of joint protection in divorce proceedings and for a variety of other father’s rights oriented causes. The first father’s support or advocacy group in the United States, Fathers and Families has been cited abundant times by newspaper such as The New York times, The Christian Science Monitor, and television specials on NPR (national public radio) and PBS (Public broad casting).

Fathers Rights

 The Father’s rights movement is a movement, the members of those movement are primarily interested in issues related to family law, including child custody and child support which affect fathers and their children. Most of its members are fathers wish to share the parenting of their children equally with their children’s mother, either after divorce or as unwed fathers. Even though it has been described as social movement, members of the movement believe their actions are better described as part of a civil rights movement. This movement has received international press coverage as a result of vigorous action of their members, has become increasingly speaking, vocal and organized and has played a role in a family law debates.

Child Support

The members of the father’s rights movement campaign for the reform of child support guidelines, in most western countries are based on maintaining the children standard of living after separation, and on the statement that the children live with any one of the parent or never with the other. Activist’s states that the current guidelines are illogical, provide mothers with financial incentives to divorce, and leave fathers with little optional income to enjoy with the children during their parenting time. Members of the fathers’ rights movement state that child support should be ended under certain conditions, such as if the custodial parent limits access to the children by moving away against the wishes of the other parent, giving fraudulent statement, or if parenthood fraud is discovered, adding that two men should not have to pay child support for the same child. Stephen Baskerville states that the purpose of child support should be strong-minded, and enforcement programs must be designed to serve that purpose, observing the due process of law.
