Ethnic Studies
The study of people, who are grouped by their ethnicity or race, is called ethnic studies. This study evolved in the late 1960s in the United States when racial awareness gained its peak. This study involves gender, class and sexuality related facts. The study about ethnicity has also received severe criticism from many ends. It has been accused of promoting linguistic isolation and racial preference. It deals with the social, economic and political inequality among people belonging to different races. Literature, Music and other performing arts related to particular races are also discussed in ethnic studies. These studies on various ethnicities are done in comparative basis where history and politics of a particular ethnic group is also analyzed.

Ethnic studies enable the scholar to understand the principles, ethics, morals, rituals and culture of any ethnicity. This discipline is gaining momentum in the education field. The skills thus acquired help in interacting and communicating among different ethnicities. The scholar is enabled to accept the unique nuances of many cultures. While learning about many cultures people learn to accept others and coexist peacefully. Learning other languages becomes an educational asset of the student. Ethnic studies put an end to the culture wars. It enables more peace in the society. Social discrimination is given an end and everyone gets a chance to live and enjoy the current lifestyle trends. When ethnic studies communicate beyond gender, sex and language the manpower gets more disciplined for common human benefits. The society is appropriately molded on this account. This study is an intellectual form of approaching a race. Thus privilege of being citizens of a country are not tampered based on the racial or other discriminatory factors.
