Equality
Gender equality is a multidimensional term embracing economic, cultural and social dimensions alike. Here, we confine ourselves to three important aspects that serve the purposes of our report. The first is equal right to education. This right is an essential condition of labour market equality, but is not sufficient in it. If women or men are discriminated against in terms of access to education, society’s human capital is not being used rationally.
The second is equal right to work in the market. At present there are major differences in the levels of labour force participation between women and men. This is to a great extent due to perceptions about the role of women in the interaction between housework and work in the market. Traditionally, women have been expected to perform most of the work in the home as a matter of course, regardless of which partner is most suited to the task. This traditional attitude is still an important explanation of the differences in women’s labour participation found.
The third aspect concerns the nature of women’s work and pay. It is generally known fact that women have lower pay levels than men in all member states, which directly reflects the differing conditions and circumstances under which women and men live. This applies to everything from the unequal sharing of household work to pay discrimination of women in the labour market.
Equality in Education:
Gender equality in education is the ultimate goal which ensures the equality for girls and boys means that they have equal opportunities to enter school, as well as to participate in, and benefit from the range of subjects or other learning experiences offered in classrooms and schools. They are effective through gender-sensitive curricula, learning materials, and teaching-learning processes, girls and boys become equally equipped with the life skills and attitudes that they will need to achieve their fullest potential, within and outside of the educational system, regardless of their sex.
Equality Promotions:
The equality of gender promotion through the equal participation of women and men in making decisions; supporting women and girls so that they can fully exercise their rights; and reducing the gap between women's and men's access to and control of resources and the benefits of development is still out of reach for most women worldwide.
Women continue to have fewer rights, lower education and health status, less income, and less access to resources and decision-making than men. However, women's critical roles in food production, income generation, community organization and domestic responsibilities are essential for sustainable development.
