Biology in Gender
Of the most controversial questions arise whenever the gender issues and gender roles are discussed, the prominent questions are do genetic hardwiring affects the behavior of men and women. Are gender specific neurohormonal factors noteworthy enough to affect the everyday deeds and choices of each sex? The common belief is that human beings are animals who are basically controlled by instincts and hormones. Everything is constructed culturally, every individual were born as a plain blank slate and then the culture and the background form him into what he is today. This is a tempting stance since it gives a very clean world view of genders issues. Biology in gender removes a lot of complexity by making everything constructed culturally and again that is an attractive option if he needs fast results.
Socio cultural programming
Most people make up to take both biology and socio cultural factors, but it is clear that they have chosen sides pretty forcefully. These people will say, “I believe that biology may affect human beings in some ways but it is completely out shadowed by our upbringing and cultural programming”. There is an unquestionable research that demonstrates the consequence of socio cultural programming in shaping gender roles. On the other hand Biology in Gender is undeniable research that highlights the difference in brain structure and function between men and women. We are biological or genetic creatures living in a culture and environment that shapes us widely. Gender is often said to depend exclusively upon structures or hormones (chemical in body), it may also depend on hard wired inheritance, and according to new research that could help doctors better understand the one in 4000 babies born with both male and female qualities.
Eric Vlian Reports
The researcher Eric Vilain, M.D. reported that, “Biology in gender is far more complicated than XX or XY chromosomes and may rely more on the brain’s very early development than we ever imagined”. "Surgical sex obligations of newborns with no capacity to say-so should never be performed for decorative reasons, in my opinion, said Vilain, an associate professor of human genetics who also serves as a chief of medical genetics and director of research in urology and sexual medicine within the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. The most important sex organ is the brain," said Reiner, a psychiatric specialist and associate professor in the Department of Urology, Oklahoma University Health Science Center. "We have to let these children tell us their gender at the appropriate time."
