Visual Design is a creative art of the arrangement and a visual treatment of elements such as images, typography, colors, shapes, forms, texture, composition, etc., to present a message to the target audience.  In simple words it’s a process of “making things to look attractive”. The purposes of the visual design are creation of clear visual hierarchy, defining and grouping elements to see the clean structure of the design and presenting the content for reaching the audience through any media in an easy and quick way. “A picture says a thousand words”, it’s not only a phrase, but a truth in the field of visual designing.

Visual design of this modern digital world has three important aspects. They are branding, layout and controls. Branding is the way to get an emotional response from the audience or the viewer by creating a design with appropriate colors, shape, texture and images. Branding part of visual design process concentrates on the ‘look’ and ‘feel’ of the design. Layout is the technique used to arrange the elements of the over all structure. It’s a hierarchical arrangement of the elements of the design. This layout part uses different font styles, font sizes, Heading and Sub Heading Styles which should attract the users at the first view of the design and the entire layout should be in a way that can be easily understood by the viewers or the audience. Eye Tracking and Psychological studies of readers help visual designers to design the layout to get the user attention when they see a Visual Design.  Controls are the elements which are used to make the interaction parts of the visual design like buttons, icons, etc. While creating an interactive visual design, using icons are the best way to get an effective Graphical User Interface. Icons are used for representing a specific function and the familiar icons of a visual design; act as a visual language for the interfaces and digital interactions.

Some of the specialization forms of Visual Design are Typography, Designing Books, Editorials, Digital Games, videos, Web designing and broadcast designs.  Typography is an art of arranging type design, type setting in a creative way. It’s the processing of typefaces in which the techniques like selection of type, sizing, arrangements, point sizing, line spacing, tracking, etc, are used to get a typographic design. Typographic techniques in the visual design are widely used by typesetters, graphic designers, art directors, artists and web page designers. Web Designs are a collection of text, sounds, images and other contents which are in interactive form. Game Designs are a form of visual design in which artistic, graphics and technical components are used.
