Psychology is a scientific concept and is derived from the Greek word ‘Psyche’ which means a study of soul or mind.  It is a method used for explaining and to study about the changes of mind and behavior. This study focuses on the understanding the concept of humanity and the study helps to discover the general ideologies and special cases. A practitioner or researcher of the mental, emotional and behavioral characteristics of specific people or group or an individual is called a Psychologist.

In the history of Psychology, the concept of studying about human behaviors started in the early 16^th century. The studies on Psychology was developed in the various stages like the studies of  Structuralism – The first school of psychology, Functionalism – The Reaction of theories of Structuralism, Psychoanalysis – a systemized approach to Human behavior studies, Behaviorism- Applying Classical conditioning to development of the Human, the Humanism – a reaction of behaviorism and psychoanalysis concepts, Gestalt Approach on Individual experiences, Existentialism – an existential form or class of psychology, Cognitive Psychology of the mental studies of people and the Bio psychosocial Model – a psychological study about the changes in consciousness and social interaction of people who are affected by biological and social factors.

Bio logical Psychology, Clinical Psychology, comparative psychology and the Developmental Psychology are some of the Sub fields of Psychology. Biological Psychology study methods use, the animal models that help Psychologists to understand the neural, hereditary and the cellular mechanisms of the human behavior. Clinical Psychology is the study for promoting the health and person development of humans by studying psychologically based suffering and dysfunction of people. This Psychological study is associated with the therapeutic approaches and practices. Mental Activities like learning, thinking, reasoning, attention, problem solving, calculation and language are studied using the Cognitive Psychology studies. Comparative Psychology study is the method of comparing the life of the human and other animals based on emotional and behavior. Developmental Psychological studies help psychologists to analyze the different stages of the development of the human mind, all through the life span.

The study of Psychology is not only the study of mind and the soul and it has to be studied by the history of its own. The study of mind could not be denied, since it has a major impact on all the behavioral characteristics of human like creativity, responsibility, reason, behavioral conduct, decision making, intelligence and self control. A man without a mind or his inner sense or personality is considered only as a creature or animal and psychology plays an important role to understand people.
